English photography contest winner checks out birds at Mexico observatory

Cranberry Harvesting
The Atoka Cranberry Farm on Route 13 in the Oswego County town of Williamstown is in the process of harvesting cranberries on their 140 acre farm. Their unique harvesting machine can harvest up to 5 acres a day. They hope to have the harvesting done by the end of October. Video by Stephen D. Cannerelli

Fort Ontario Ghost Tour
There are seven points in the Fort Ontario Ghost Tour, each tells a story of a Fort Ontario soldier who died tragically while stationed at the Oswego fort. The tour is Oct. 8, 9, and 10 from 7-9pm. Myotonic Fainting Goats
Jaime French of Sundance Meadows farm in Central Square, is the preeminent CNY breeder of myotonic goats, more commonly known as fainting goats, a breed of the domestic animal whose muscles freeze when startled, causing them to stiffen and often times fall over. Video by Steven J. Pallone

Opening Day of the Oswego County Fair
In this video we see the sights and sounds of the opening day of the Oswego County Fair in Sandy Creek. Exhibitors get their farm animals ready for upcoming competitions. Families enjoy the rides and games on the Midway. Harness racing was also featured on opening day. The fair runs from July 1st to July 5th.

Redfield’s weather watcher Carol Yerdon
Carol Yerdon of North Redfield is a weather watcher for the National Weather Service. The Oswego County town has accumulated nearly 400 inches of snow this winter. In this video Yerdon talks about how she documents the snowfall.

Safe Haven Museum and Education Center
In this video Dr. Willard Schum, founding president and now, a board member of Safe Haven Museum and Education Center explains the history of this place at Fort Ontario in Oswego that took in 982 Jewish refugees during W.W.II. Lawn Mower Racing In West Amboy
The West Amboy Fire Department in Oswego holds lawn mower races at their fire station track to raise money for equipment, a monthly Friday night event that has grown into a hugely popular community gathering, brimming with food, drink, music, and of course, plenty of racing fans.
