‘Around the Tracks – LIVE’ to Feature Several Oswego SBS PilotsPosted on Mar 28, 2013
OSWEGO, NY (March 26, 2013) – Joe Marotta’s ‘Around the Tracks’ radio show will once again broadcast LIVE Saturday morning at 9am from the DIRT Motorsports Hall of Fame and Museum in Weedsport, NY. Joining Marotta for his one hour broadcast will be a host of Oswego Speedway Small Block Super competitors including JJ Andrews, Andrew Schartner, Jack Patrick, Mike Bruce, and Jeremy Pitcher.
Race fans are welcome to join the broadcast at the DIRT Motorsports Hall of Fame and Museum, located on the Cayuga County Fairgrounds, as the doors will open for the live event at 8:30am.
Marotta, whose announcing voice has been heard throughout the CNY racing community for over 40 years, has been Oswego’s co-announcer with Roy Sova since the 1992 racing season.
“When I first started at Oswego with Roy, people told me there was no way we would last together,” laughed Marotta. “We have a great time there, and Roy may just be the best announcer I have ever worked with. We have never had a cross word, and have become great friends. It’s been a great ride, and I enjoy each and every Saturday night at Oswego.”
Marotta’s special cast of guests on Saturday is no doubt a collection of driving talent.
Andrews, a two-time feature winner in Oswego’s SBS division, picked up a memorable victory last year on opening night at the ‘Steel Palace.’ Driving the Team Tapout No. 93 Hedger chassis, Andrews finished the 2012 campaign 9th in the point standings and now ranks within the top five on the All-Time Oswego Speedway SBS point sheet.
Schartner is the 2011 champion of the Bud Light SBS Classic and also now a Race of Champions victor, after claiming the win in the SBS portion of the event last season over Brian Sobus and AJ Bernys. With seven career SBS wins at Oswego, Schartner has quickly risen as a weekly threat for victory lane behind the wheel of the Crow Motorsports No. 18 Hedger chassis.
A many year veteran of the SBS division in the red Hedger No. 9, Patrick picked up his latest victory at the Speedway last September during Oswego’s rebirth of Fall Championship Weekend. Patrick has 30 career top five finishes at the ‘Steel Palace,’ and like Andrews, ranks in the top five on the All-Time SBS point list at Oswego.
Bruce, the 2010 Butler Disposal SBS Rookie of the Year, is a relative newcomer to the division but has quickly made a name for himself as a hard charging shoe at the Speedway. Since 2010, Bruce has 12 career top five finishes and continues to knock at the door of his first career feature victory. For the coming season Bruce will move to one of the Teddneck Racing FFB racecars, but will carry with him his regular No. 22.
Finally, Pitcher moves to Oswego in the TNT Motorsports No. 14 FFB chassis after many years as a DIRT Sportsman regular. The former Fulton and Cayuga County Fair Speedway regular has accumulated six track championships between the two Speedways and a total of 36 feature wins in his DIRT racing career. After getting a taste of asphalt SBS racing at Oswego’s Fall Championship last September with a fine 5th place finish, Pitcher is now ready to realize his longtime dream of racing weekly at the ‘Steel Palace’ in 2013.
If you are unable to take the broadcast in live this weekend at the DIRT Motorsports Hall of Fame and Museum, you can listen over the airwaves in the Syracuse area on 1390/1600am or listen online atwww.cnytalkradio.com.
