Fair Unveils 2012 Poster and Theme

The New York State Fair unveiled its 2012 poster Friday, and announced that this year’s theme would be “A Smile a Minute.”

A hi-resolution version of the 2012 logo and poster can be downloaded at: www.nysfair.org/logos.

A fun twist on a well-known expression, this theme describes the fast pace and non-stop nature of the Fair in terms of the most outward expression of joy: the smile. It lets Fairgoers know that every moment they’re at the Fair they’ll find something – whether it’s a show, ride, game or anything else – that will bring a smile to his or her face. The theme lends itself visually to imagery involving smiling faces and action.

“This year’s theme is a great representation of the Fair,” State Fair Director Dan O’Hara said. “We want Fairgoers to be able to come and be able to leave their worries at the gate and have a great, once-in-a-lifetime experience with their families and friends.”

The 2012 Fair will run from Aug. 23 to Sept. 3. Admission to the 2012 Fair will once again be $10 at the gate, $6 in advance and free for children 12 and younger.

Among the returning attractions this year are a variety of favorites; many of which are depicted in the 2012 poster. They include the Strates Shows Midway; Sea Lion Splash; and blue-ribbon agricultural competitions ranging from dahlias to dairy cattle. Traditional Fair food will also be available including a cup of fresh New York state milk for 25 cents and a baked potato for $1.
