This is a state-wide tournament event where anglers can fish any waterway across NYS (ice, open water, & tributaries) from January 1st through February 22nd for 7 categories of fish species: Trout (brown trout, lake trout, steelhead/rainbow trout), Northern Pike, Walleye, Pickerel, Crappie, Yellow Perch, and Panfish (sunfish/bluegill). Top 5 fish by weight in each category place, lunker pool with placement of Top 3 in each category and a random drawing from the 1st place Lunker Pool winners for $1,000, and 14 weigh-in stations across the state to bring fish to (see website for station location map). This will make every day a tournament day and for only $25/angler to enter plus $10/angler to enter the Lunker Pool, which includes all categories.

Step back into the early 1900s by taking a guided tour through the scenic winter grounds of historic Fort Ontario. Tour with start in the Enlisted Men's Barracks inside the Fort. Please come dressed for cold weather as the tour is outside. Pets are welcome. Refreshments will be provided at the conclusion of the tour.

The event is free and open to the public. Participants must be pre-registered to receive any of the giveaways at the event.

Registration is required if you are borrowing snowshoes. Call 315-492-1756 to register.

Dress warmly as the temperature drops quickly at dark.
Bring a flashlight to use if necessary, but keep it in your pocket so we can take advantage of the bright moonlight.
Meet at the skier's parking lot just past the park office.

If there is less than 6 inches of snow we will hike instead of snowshoeing. Admission is free.

42 Miles of Wonder is a cooperative project of the H. Lee White Maritime Museum in Oswego and the Erie Canal Museum. It was first on display last fall at the Erie Canal Museum and will travel to Fulton and Oswego in 2015 following its stay in Phoenix, NY.

Natalia Zukerman grew up in New York City, studied art at Oberlin, worked in mural arts in San Francisco, began her songwriting career in Boston, and now resides, writes, plays and paints in Brooklyn, NY. The daughter of classical musicians Eugenia and Pinchas Zukerman, Natalia found her sound in other strings – those on slide guitar, lap steel, dobro. She found kinship in the earthiness and honesty of folk, bluegrass, jazz and blues music.

Since Frank Solivan left the cold climes of Alaska for the bluegrass hotbed of Washington, D.C., he’s built a reputation as a monster mandolinist — and become a major festival attraction with his band, Dirty Kitchen. Solivan and banjoist Mike Munford (2013 IBMA Banjo Player of the Year), guitarist Chris Luquette (IBMA Instrumentalist of the Year Momentum Award winner) and doghouse bassist Dan Booth simmer a bluegrass/newgrass stew from instrumental, vocal and songwriting skills so hot, they also earned 2012, 2013 and 2014 Best Bluegrass Band honors from the Washington Area Music Association.

Fantastic Architectures at Tyler Art Gallery @ Oswego State Downtown - on the corner of W. First & W. Bridge Sts.

Artist and designers use various elements to create compositions of diverse subject matter. For this project in foundation design, students created mixed media drawings that experimented with line, shape, value, color, texture, and scale. A primary focus was on creating the illusion of 3-D forms and the development of space.

Opening reception tonight 5-7pm.

4th Annual Family Fun Snow Day:

CNY Arts Center is excited to announce Disney’s Olaf from the popular movie Frozen will be on hand January 31st for the 4th annual Snow Day. Kids and parents are encouraged to come meet Olaf, have pictures taken and join the family fun. The event is being held from 10 am-3:00 pm at CNY Arts Center. The center is located at 11 River Glen Plaza in Fulton, NY.

The family fun day will include snow fun outdoors with snow bank slides, snow games, snow painting, build-a-snowman and a snow sculpture contest. A children’s carnival, Irish step dancers, snow themed arts projects, food, and more will continue the fun indoors. The event is open to the public with children’s carnival tickets available at the door.

Winona State Forest will host the 5th annual Winona Stone Wall 5K Snowshoe Race/Walk this Saturday, January 31st, at 10:30 am, at CCC camp in Mannsville, NY. More than 120 people from across the New England states are expected to take to the 5K course through scenic old growth forests and alongside historic stone walls.

“The trails are challenging, but offer opportunities for a all levels of ability from beginners to experts. We are expecting a great turnout,” said Carolyn Rees, President of the Winona Forest Recreation Association. “It’s not necessarily about who wins, it’s more about the camaraderie, being outdoors and enjoying the scenery.”

Since its inception, the Stone Wall 5K has more than doubled in size and evolved into one of the Northeast’s premier snowshoe races.
