Our lakes, rivers and streams attract anglers from around the world hoping to reel in the next record catch. Oswego County has three New York State Parks and one community park with public beaches. Enjoy the feeling of the sand between your toes at the beautiful Sandy Island Beach State Park. Mexico Point State Park and Selkirk Shores State Park provide areas for to swim and explore. David C. Webb Memorial Park at Taft Bay is a true jewel of the North Shore. A recreation area offering plenty of room, fresh air, a beach with lifeguards, two pavilions with electricity, bathhouse, picnic tables, barbecue grills, recreational and sport facilities.

Originally settled by native North Americans thousands of years ago, the French explorer Samuel de Champlain was the first European to visit Oneida Lake in 1615. Settlers were drawn to shore by the plentiful supply of fish, natural waterways, and abundant forests. The lakeside communities reflect the region’s colorful history, small town charm and beautiful vistas.
