Winona Forest Stonewall Snowshoe Race 10 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019

More than 100 hardy individuals of all ages are expected to traverse through the snow at Winona Forest Recreation Area Sunday, Jan. 20 for the annual Stonewall Snowshoe Race organized by Winona Forest Recreation Association. Organizers and snowshoers will be available for interviews before and after the event.

Kick off time is 10 a.m. Sunday. The event will start from the CCC camp on County Route 90, Mannsville.

Epic conditions are anticipated due to the snowfall predicted for this weekend. Participants can walk or run on a professionally designed well-marked scenic course through Winona and enjoy reliable Tug Hill snow, unique awards, a snowshoe giveaway, and a post-race social gathering at 11 North restaurant in Pulaski. Participants will choose from a family-friendly 5K citizens course, or a 10K course designed for those with competitive snowshoe racing experience.

Winona Forest Recreation Area in northern Oswego and southern Jefferson counties features more than 50 miles of groomed trails for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, snowmobiles, hiking, equestrians, and ATV activities. The 9,200-acre state forest on the western edge of the Tug Hill Plateau offers year-round recreation on pristine trails.;
