January 18, 2024
This report is courtesy of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning.
Oswego County received a storm this week, bringing up to a foot of snow in some parts of the county. Many clubs are starting to open trails. Regular winter trails reports will continue weekly as clubs provide updates.
Whether you spend some time listening to Taylor Swift`s new album ... or you just need some time to relax and unwind ... we have some great locations throughout the county to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view! 😍

We don`t remember placing an order for clouds during yesterday`s eclipse! That said, despite the cloud cover, we still had an incredible eclipse experience! 🌞🌚🌞
To everyone who visited Oswego County for the eclipse, we hope you had a wonderful visit! Come back and see what other fun things we have to offer throughout the year!

Welcome to all of the visitors who will be coming to Oswego County to view the solar eclipse. Our location will have over three minutes of totality, so we are truly the place to be on Monday!
As you are travelling through our county, there will be electronic signs along the roadsides and at local businesses. Keep an eye out for messaging as we ensure the safety of everyone visiting our county over the coming days!
We hope you have an amazing time in our county and we are glad to share this incredible experience with all of you! ☀🌑☀

The livestream from our LightSound box will begin at 2pm on Monday on our Facebook page (facebook.com/visitoswegocounty.) Take some time to listen to the changing sounds during the eclipse. We are proud to make this eclipse accessible for those with visual impairment while also demonstrating how light turns into sound.

If you`re looking for a fun, eclipse-related activity to do with kids over the weekend, try making these fun eclipse viewers! These viewers will provide extra protection for safely viewing the solar eclipse as it makes it harder to look outside the lenses on the eclipse glasses. For instructions, visit https://mynasadata.larc.nasa.gov/lesson-plans/solar-eclipse-safety-activity

Hi friends ... it`s your pal Ozzy! 👋 I decided to hop on a snowflake and come to Oswego County to see the solar eclipse on Monday! The North Pole won`t have totality, and with the anticipated incredible weather in the area on Monday, Oswego County is the place to be to watch this special celestial event!
My friends at the Oswego County Tourism office made sure I was prepared with eclipse glasses. If you need glasses, be sure to stop by the tourism office at 46 E. Bridge Street on the third floor and pick some up. ☀️🌑☀️

We`re going to look past the snow coming this week and look ahead to the weather for Monday ... aka eclipse day! ☀️🌑☀️
As of today, we are quite confident that we are going to see sun and have a gorgeous eclipse day! Weather is always changing, so we will be keeping our eyes to the sky, but we cannot be happier with how the forecast is looking! 🎉 As you`re preparing to head to your viewing area, note that temperatures will drop during the eclipse and it will be cooler near the Lake Ontario shoreline. Be sure to dress for varying temperatures.
If you need eclipse glasses for the day, we do have glasses available in the tourism office. We`re located at 46 E. Bridge Street in Oswego on the third floor.
