Built in 1917 during the construction of the Barge Canal, the building still contains the original levers and controls used to lift and lower a nearby drawbridge which was removed in the 1980's. Theres a small museum in the bridge and buoy houses, where visitors can see the original levers and controls and also learn more about the history of Phoenix. There is also a model of the Day Peckinpaugh in the museum. The small informal museum is maintained and staffed by the Bridge House Brats, a group of young people who welcome boaters to Phoenix
