Did you know that there is a piece of D-Day history right here in Oswego? The The LT-5 Major Elisha K. Henson is docked at the H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego. The vessel was used in the buildup to Operation Overlord, which was the codename for the invasion of Normandy.
To learn more about the LT-5, visit https://hlwmm.org/pages/historic-vessels-on-display. The LT-5 is not open to board for tours, but a dockside experience is part of the museum tour at @maritimemuseum, so you will have a chance to check out the tug from the pier.

Let`s travel back in time for National Travel and Tourism Week.
Oswego County`s rich history brings people from far and wide to our area. Whether it`s reenactments at @fortontario or Fort Brewerton & Oliver Stevens Blockhouse Museum, or people interested in maritime history who visit the vessels at @maritimemuseum, or Underground History and local historians who visit the Starr Clark Tin Shop & Underground Rail Road, J.W. Pratt House, or @rbhousemuseum, history is everywhere! Education history is highlighted at @sunyoswego and of course we cannot mention history without mentioning Dr. Mary Walker, the only female recipient of the Medal of Honor and the Safe Haven Museum and Education Center which was the only location in the United States to welcome Holocaust refugees during World War II.
Plan your next visit to Oswego County and learn all about our deep historical legacies!

It`s Tuesday of National Travel and Tourism Week and perhaps we should call today "Tackle Tuesday" because we`re going to highlight our incredible fishing opportunities! 🐟
According to recent numbers, anglers have brought in over $192 million to Oswego County with $73 million in the Salmon River corridor alone! Those numbers do not include the return on investment from visitors to the Salmon River Fish Hatchery which sees over 50,000 visitors annually or the $70,000 that each charter business generates for the community each year. So, when we say fishing is a big deal, that`s no fish story!
From the famed salmon run to steelhead, bass, walleye, perch, and more, there is a season for all anglers! We cannot wait for you to come and experience Oswego County fishing (or make a return visit!) for your trophy catch! 🎣
If you`d like more information, we have a free fishing and hunting guide available for download on our website. If you`d prefer a hard copy, drop an email to [email protected] and we can get one mailed out to you!
